Google Chrome Gets New Tab Page For Touch Screen Devices | WWWery

appscreen
Looks like Google is experimenting yet another major UI overhaul for the Chrome browser, and this time, it surrounds the start page (and the new tab page) in Chrome v12.0.709.0.
Turns out that Chrome’s start page will become an app screen. The updated start page (& new tab page) has a web app-friendly UI, especially tailored for use on touch screen devices liketablets and desktops.
You can slide through the app screens just like you do on your smartphone. But, if you have very few or no apps installed (which means you have only one app screen), there’s not much you can do.
The squares at the bottom of the start page (& the new tab page) represent app pages or screens. To create a second page, you need to select an app (icon), drag-and-drop it in the second square, and so on. To delete apps, just drop them in the "Trash can" to the far right.
Right now, it’s pretty clear that the feature is only in the experimental stages, as it lacks even some simple functions like converting bookmarks into apps, deleting pages once they are created etc.
While the new start page is default in the latest developer version of Chrome, you can still switch back to the basic start page (in settings).
Do you think the feature is of any use unless you can use bookmarks for apps too?
